Falcons Level Off Hilltoppers

ODESSA, Texas – Every part of the machine was in perfect harmony as The University of Texas Permian Basin volleyball team (15-6, 6-4 Lone Star Conference) beat St. Edward's (7-15, 3-7 LSC) 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-22), Saturday afternoon at the Falcon Dome. 

In the first set, UTPB and St. Edward's played on even terms early.  At 8-6, senior Cassandra Rother smashed the ball off the block.  That started an 8-3 run to put the set away.

In the second set, the Hilltoppers hung close trailing 6-5.  The Falcons scored five straight points and never looked back.

In the third set, UT Permian Basin looked to put it away with a 15-10 lead.  SEU went on a 12-6 run to lead 22-21.  Senior Gloria Geurin went cross court for a kill to start a run of four straight points to end the match.

For UT Permian Basin, Geurin had 10 kills while junior Aaliyah Gray had nine kills. Junior April Egwu had six total blocks and junior Gabby Gregorski had 15 digs. 

For St. Edward's, Lauren Scott had 10 kills and Sarah Konovodoff had 14 digs.

UT Permian Basin takes to the road, Friday, Oct. 27 playing Texas A&M International.  The match is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m.
