UT Permian Basin Men's Basketball received a jolt of athleticism and Division I experience with the addition of Jalen King. King, a 6-5 guard, comes to the Falcons after a year at Northwestern State Louisiana where he started 14 games.
King had starts against Texas A&M, Baylor, LSU, and Tulsa in his time at Northwestern State. He averaged 4.4 points per game and scored in double figures four times. He scored a season-high 17 points against Dallas Christian and went off against Louisiana-Monroe with 12 points and seven rebounds.
"Jalen is really athletic and can play multiple spots," said Head Coach
Kyle Tolin. "He comes to us from a Division I program and was at a really good junior college program before that."
Prior to his Division I season, King played at South Georgia College where he helped lead them to a regional championship and NJCAA Sweet 16. He averaged 15 points per game and grabbed 8.5 rebounds while recording nine double-doubles. King was Co-Regional Player of the Year and a Third Team NJCAA All-American.
"We have coached several guys from South Georgia and all have been really good players and well coached by Cory Baldwin. We are expecting big things out of Jalen, he is a winner and can guard lots of different positions on the floor."
