After a strong offensive day to start the Iceman Invitational, it was UT Permian Basin Volleyball's defense's time to shine on day two. The Falcons held Augustana to a .114 hitting percentage and followed it with a dominant performance against the University of the Southwest to cap the tournament with a 3-1 record.
In the highly anticipated showdown between the Falcons and Vikings, things went back-and-forth early on. The Vikings had the early lead but the Falcons clawed back into it with a 5-0 run. It was a little too late as the Vikings made a late charge to take the opening set 25-23. The Falcons bounced right back in the second set with a 3-0 run. After exchanging points back-and-forth, the Falcons took the set for good on the back of a 5-0 run to even things at one set each. The Vikings swung momentum back their way with a late run to take the third set, and an extended run in the fourth to take the match.
In the final game of the weekend the Falcons completely shut down the University of the Southwest.
April Egwu had a huge performance with a team-high six kills.
Cassandra Rother and
Grace Feddern added five each while
Julia Sims and
Gloria Geurin chipped in four apiece.
Jenna Gray had 14 assists, just beating out
Devin Alcoser's 11 to lead the team.
Jadyn Gillespie paced the team with 10 digs in the three-set sweep.
