Another day, another stellar game for
Daylee Doggett adn
Aquincia Strambler for UT Permian Basin Volleyball. Doggett led the Falcon defense with 21 digs while Strambler had 13 kills in a sweep over Adams State on Friday in Lubbock. Doggett finished the double header with 33 digs while Strambler had 22 kills on the day.
After falling to the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs in the first game of the day, the Falcons bounced back against the Grizzlies despite a slow start. The Falcons trailed by four but a pair of errors allowed them back into the set and swing momentum. Trailing 12-10, they went on a 6-0 run to pull away.
Cassandra Rother had back-to-back aces before Strambler had a pair of kills to wake the Falcons up. Another ace later in the set by
Netanya Allison put things away for the 1-0 lead.
The Falcons controlled the second set from the outset with an early 7-2 run. The Grizzlies responded with a 4-0 run to climb back into the set, but the Falcons answered with one of their own. The Grizzlies made things interesting once again with a 4-0 run, but the Falcons followed with a 5-1 run powered by a pair of kills from
Taurie Magee for the two-set lead.
The third set was the closest of the match, but the Falcons were very much in control from the first serve. The Grizzlies made things interesting, but a late 9-4 Falcon run put things out of reach in the eventual sweep.
Magee finished the day with 11 kills and seven blocks. Doggett added nine assists to her impressive dig total.
Devin Alcoser led the way with 11 assists in each match for the Falcons.
