Devin Ferrari's big blast highlighted Saturday's Lone Star Conference doubleheader at No. 25 Lubbock Christian. The senior from Farmington, N.M., hit his ninth homer of the season in the second of two games against the Chaps.
His solo shot to left field in the top of the fourth marked the first run of the day for the Falcons. The next inning, UTPB plated two more runs on fielders' choices to make it a 15-3 ballgame. That would be the closest UT Permian Basin would get, as an eight-run sixth allowed LCU to pull away. Though the Falcons added two runs in the seventh, it was not enough as the Chaps picked up a 23-5 victory.

Ferrari went 1-for-2 with a home run, one RBI, and one run scored.
Garret Thornton (1-4, 2 RBI),
Christian Rodriguez (1-2, RBI),
Hayden Matthewson (1-3, R),

Mario Pena was hitless on the day but scored once.
Mario Macias started the second game of the day.
Jose Antonio Hernandez, Tristian Romo, and
Joel Vasquez each pitched in relief.
The Falcons dropped Game 1 of the doubleheader 10-0 in seven innings.
Michael Clapperton singled to right field in the first at-bat, which wound up being the only hit UTPB would tally in the defeat.
Clapperton finished 1-for-2 with a walk in the first matchup of the day.
Cole Dickie and Gabe Melendez also earned a base on balls.
Cade Pollard earned the start and struck out two batters in four innings.
Jake Rohde pitched the last two frames, striking out one Chap.
