Krystal Smith has been hot for UT Permian Basin Tennis since the start of Lone Star Conference play and on Saturday the junior won her third straight match. Smith is now 3-1 in conference singles play and won five of her last six.
Smith needed three sets on Saturday to take her match on the fifth singles line. She wasn't the only Falcon to take a match from UT Tyler.
Rhea Singh needed just two sets on the second line and
Brooke Runyan won in straight sets in the number six spot. The Falcons came close to taking the doubles point with both the two and three matches decided by two points. They needed the point as the final would be 4-3 in favor of the Patriots.
On the men's side
Patryk Kosinski and
Roberto Garcia both forced a third set against the No. 30 team in the nation.
Jorge Garcia also went to a tiebreaker in the first set, but the Falcons fell 7-0.
The Falcons are back in action tomorrow against Texas A&M – Texarkana. Download the UTPB Athletics App to follow the team all season long.
