Trever Berg had it all working on Saturday as the senior silenced UT Tyler and picked up his second win of the season for UT Permian Basin. The senior allowed just six hits and two runs in a complete game, 7-2 victory in the second game of the doubleheader.
The Falcons got the offense going early as they loaded the bases with the first three batters of the game.
Devin Ferrari brought in a run with a sac fly and two batters later
Marcus Johnson's RBI single made it 2-0. Later in the inning,
Cole Dickie drove home another run with a single for the early crooked number.
Oswaldo Godina added to the lead in the second with an RBI single to drive in
Michael Clapperton. The Falcons blew it open in the fifth with another three spot. Gabe Melendez got it going with a sac fly to bring in Johnson. Dickie scores on
Garret Thornton's single and Godina drove in another run with a ground ball. Berg worked out of a two-runner on jam in the fifth and went the distance for the win.
The opening game of the day was a pitcher's duel from the first pitch. The Patriots scored a pair early but he Falcons got them back in the fourth. With runners on second and third and two outs, Thornton drove in a pair with a single up the middle to tie the score. The Patriots responded with another run in the bottom of the inning and that would remain the score the rest of the way for the 3-2 final.
Thornton had a huge day with five hits and three RBI. Gabe Morin, Godina, and Melendez all had two hits each.
Parker Buys struck out four and allowed three runs over 5.2 innings in the opening game of the afternoon.
