Falcons Go Yard 3 Times in Series Finale

UT Permian Basin Baseball had the big bats out on Sunday at UT Tyler, launching three home runs in the final game of their four game series.

Garret Thornton got things going in the top of the first with a long home run to left field, giving them the lead just two batters into the game.  In the third the Falcons scored again when an error allowed Gabe Melendez to score from second on a ground ball.

In the fifth, Pedro Astacio continued to swing a hot bat with his fourth homer of the season.  The next inning, not to be out done by his teammates, Oswaldo Godina hit his seventh of the year, a solo home run.  That's all the offense could get going though and the Patriots scored 14 runs for the 14-4 final.

Melendez was the only player for the Falcons with a pair of hits on the day.  Jake Rohde and Mario Macias combined for three innings of hitless ball.

The Falcons are back in action next weekend in Odessa against Arkansas Fort Smith at Roden Field.  Download the UTPB Athletics App to follow the team all season long.
