Michael Clapperton did what any lead-off hitter would do and got on base three times for UT Permian Basin in their series finale against Texas A&M International.
Gabriel Melendez also had a multi-hit game including hitting a two-run home run in the ninth inning of the contest.
Â
The Falcons didn't do much offensively until the fifth inning when Clapperton singled in
Cole Dickie to put the Flacons on the board.
Â
The Falcons got on the board again in the ninth as
Pedro Astacio continued his hot start and doubled down the left field line. After a couple of outs Melendez stepped up and hit his two-run homer to left. Clapperton got his third hit of the game on a double down the right field line and DeSoto followed that with a single to left, but that's all the Falcons could do as they fell 9-3.
Â
Caleb Vuono came in relief pitching 1.2 innings of work, allowing one hit, and no runs to cross the plate.
Cade Pollard and
Josh Castillo threw a shutout inning each with Castillo getting a strikeout.

The Falcons are home at Roden Field on Friday as they host Texas A&M - Kingsville in a four game series. Download the UTPB Athletics App to follow the Falcons all season long.
