As the season winds down and UT Permian Basin Men's Basketball creeps up on the Lone Star Conference postseason,
Miles Daniels continues to elevate his game to a new level. The senior scored a career high 31 points and connected on six threes as the Falcons led the entire time in an 89-71 win over UT Tyler.
DaJuan Jones had a big night as well with 16 points and 11 assists for his seventh double-double of the year.
Daniels was unstoppable right out of the gate. He hit his first four three-point shot attempts and followed with another where his foot was ruled on the line. After finally missing one, he sank his next giving him 18 points just nine minutes into the game. The Falcons poured it on and pushed the lead up to 20 after a steal and dunk by
Zavon Godwin. The Patriots climbed back into the game with a 10-0 run in a three-minute stretch to stay within striking distance. With just over a minute to go in the half, Daniels was fouled on a three-point attempt and sank all three and sent the Falcons into the locker room up 44-30.
The Patriots chipped away at the Falcon lead in the second half, reducing it to as little as four with under nine minutes to play.
Keyon Craddock converted a three-point play and
Jordan Horn sank a three to push the lead back to double digits. Daniels ended any hopes of a comeback by the Patriots with a three that kept the lead in double figures the rest of the night.
Horn scored 13 points and became the eighth player in program history to reach 800 points for their Falcon career.
Kendal Frey added 10 points, four rebounds, and a pair of blocks.
The Falcons close the regular season needing a win over Texas A&M – Commerce on Senior Day. Prior to the game the Falcons will honor their four seniors with tip-off scheduled for 4 PM. Download the UTPB Athletics App to follow the team all season long.
