The story of the young season for UT Permian Basin Baseball has been their ability to hit home runs and that continued Saturday at St. Edward's. The offense hit two more to maintain the lead in the Lone Star Conference with 17.
Gabriel Morin opened the scoring in the first game of the doubleheader with his second big fly of the season. The offense struck once again off the bat of
Marcus Johnson in the seventh with his first home run of the season. It wasn't enough as those were the team's only two hits in the ballgame which ended 6-2.
In game two the Hilltoppers grabbed the early lead but the Falcons answered in the third.
Mario Pena singled and moved to second on a bunt.
Gabriel Melendez singled him home to tie the score at one. The rest of the way the offense couldn't push across another run while the Hilltoppers scored three times in the fourth for the 4-1 final.
Parker Buys started game one going 4.0 innings and allowing just two earned runs.
Mario Macias went 5.0 innings in game two and struck out five.
