Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Career Night from Daniels Leads Falcons to Critical LSC Victory

Over the last three weeks Miles Daniels has been a difficult player to stop for opposing defenses, especially when he plays like he did Thursday night.  The senior went off for 26 points and nine rebounds as UT Permian Basin Men's Basketball kept pace in a tight Lone Star Conference race after knocking off Oklahoma Christian 76-60 on the road.  The Falcons are currently tied with Angelo State and Midwestern State for seventh in the LSC but sit just a game behind fourth place and a first-round bye.

In the second half DaJuan Jones set the program's single season assists record and now has 156 on the season, breaking the previous record of 153 held by Pat Dembley.  Jones finished the night with 10 points and eight assists, while shooting 7-of-8 from the free throw line in the win.

The Falcons got off to a cold start as the Eagles led 14-1 four minutes into the game.  From there the Falcons flipped the script as the offense heated up.  Threes by Daniels and Keyon Craddock erased the 13-point deficit in the span of six minutes.  Daniels continued to knock them down from the outside as the Falcons build a four-point lead.  The Eagles responded to even the score, but another Craddock three put the Falcons up 35-32 heading into the locker room.

After exchanging baskets, the Falcons trailed 42-40 early in the second half.  Form there though it was all Falcons after a three-point play by Zavon Godwin.  A 22-0 Falcon run blew the game wide open and down the stretch they led by as many as 23 before the final horn.

Craddock was electric off the bench with 15 points and was a perfect 4-for-4 from three.  Max Warren chipped in seven points with five rebounds off the bench.  The Falcons dominated in points off turnovers, 23-8, fast break points, 18-10, and bench points 27-3.

The Falcons face a stiff road test on Saturday as they head east to play Arkansas Fort Smith.  Download the UTPB Athletics App to follow the team all season long.
