The Lone Star Conference standings got tighter on Tuesday night after UT Permian Basin Men's Basketball earned a huge road win over RV Angelo State. It was a tale of two halves for the Falcons. In the first they were led by
Lemmie Howard's 14 points while in the second
Jordan Horn stole the show with 19. The duo combined with
Miles Daniels to finish with 57 points, matching the scoring output of the Rams in the 71-57 win.
Howard controlled the first half with his hot shooting., going 7-of-8 from the field. The team was red hot in the opening 20 minutes, combining to shoot .594 percent from the field as a team while holding the home team to just .357 form the field.
The Rams looked like they'd run away with things and led by eight in the opening minutes. A Falcon run of 17-1 swung momentum completely on its head and gave the Falcons a lead they'd never relinquish. Howard scored three times, while Daniels added five points as the Falcons silenced the home crowd. Three times a Howard bucket pushed the lead to 13 but the Rams kept within striking distance heading into the locker room.
Horn took over in the second half, scoring 19 of the team's 31 points. Horn connected on six of the team's first seven baskets of the half, only broken up by a Daniels basket. The Rams made things interesting in the second half, trimming the Falcon led to just five but Horn ended their hopes with threes on back-to-back possessions to put the game out of reach.
Along with his 16 points, Daniels finished the game with five rebounds and a pair of steals. Horn was 11-of-17 shooting while the Falcons finished at .554 percent as a team.
