Seay Leads Offensive Charge in LSC Opener

Azariah Seay opened Lone Star Conference play with a game-high 18 points in a 72-68 win over Texas A&M International at the Falcon Dome.

A 6-2 run for the Destdevils opened the game before eventually becoming an 18-6 lead in the first seven minutes of the first half. The Falcons answered with a 10-0 run to cut it to two with eight from Seay and two from DaJuan Jones for an 18-16 score with just over 10 minutes left.  UTPB took their first lead of the half on a jumper from Keyon Craddock to make it 32-30. The advantage shifted twice more down the stretch, favoring the Falcons after a pair of late free throws from Max Warren sent them to the break leading 36-35.

The Dustdevils retook the lead with the first three of the second half until an 8-0 answer swung UTPB ahead 43-38. Lino Manhom first tied it up with a layup before Seay made a three-point play on a jumper and a free throw. Rodney Carson Jr. finished the run with a layup for the five-point lead with 15:52 remaining. After a pair of Manhom free throws, Seay's lone three-pointer put the Falcons up 48-40. UTPB's largest lead of the night came at the end of a small 5-0 run on a pair of free throw from Craddock for a 65-52 score with 5:43 left. The Dustdevils made it a game late with a 10-0 answer and eventually cut it to 68-66 with 37 seconds remaining. Jones came up clutch from the line to make it 70-66 with 19 seconds left. After a Dustdevil layup got it back to two with 15 seconds left, Seay stepped to the stripe with six seconds left and sank both to seal the 72-68 win.
