Azariah Seay has been scoring in bunches lately for UT Permian Basin Men's Basketball and that trend continued on Saturday against Texas A&M - Kingsville. The senior dropped 19 points off the bench and was a perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line. The Falcons didn't miss from the charity stripe on Saturday, finishing 19-of-19 for the game including 17-of-17 in the second half.
A pair of three-pointers pushed the Javelinas out in front by six early in the game. The Falcons responded with a 10-0 run to take the lead including threes by
Jalen King and
Keyon Craddock. From there the first half was a slugfest with both sides unable to gain momentum. A basket by King pushed the lead to five and after the visitors answered,
Max Warren's bucket put it back to a five-point advantage. A 10-0 run by the Javelinas swung things the other way late in the half, but King's basket at the end of the half made it 29-26 in favor of the visitors.
The Javelinas pushed the lead to six again early in the half before the Falcons responded. Craddock knocked down a three and Seay followed with a three-point play to tie it at 38. Moments later the Falcons pushed the lead to three on a pair of free throws by
DaJuan Jones. From there the offense went quiet and was outscored down the stretch and eventually fell 73-63.
King added 11 points to the effort. Jones had a team-high six rebounds.
The Falcons are on the road next week for a pair of Lone Star Conference contests. They open the week against Oklahoma Christian on Thursday. Download the UTPB Athletics App to follow the team all season long.
