Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Tom Perpetua

Jones Double-Double Powers Falcons to Perfect Weekend

A day after posting his first double-double of the year, DaJuan Jones had his second with an 18-point, 10-assist performance in the UT Permian Basin Men's Basketball 82-68 win over Jarvis Christian.  Jones led all players in scoring and was 14-of-16 from the free throw line in the victory.

The Bulldogs came out shooting, making their first three shots to take an early 6-2 lead.  Back-to-back buckets by Nathaniel Powell, who scored the first six Falcon points, tied the score.  The Bulldogs continued to shoot well and regained the lead but the Falcons would not let them get away.  Azariah Seay knocked down a pair of threes to keep the Falcons within two.  After a three minute stretch in which the teams combined for just three points, a 7-0 Falcon run put them back on top.  Back-to-back Bulldog threes put them back in front.  A Keyon Craddock three started a 10-3 run to close the half and sent the Falcons into the locker room up two.

Things were tied with 18-and-a-half minutes to go but the next four points went to the home team on baskets by Powell and Daniel Moody.  Minutes later a Moody three and dunk by Powell pushed the Falcon lead to eight.  Three points from Lino Manhom, a Jalen King free throw, and a Rodney Carson jumper ballooned the lead to 12 ad 59-47.  The Bulldogs wouldn't go away, eventually cutting the Falcon lead down to just three, but any chances of a comeback by the visitor's were squashed thanks to a 12-0 Falcon run.

Powell finished the day with 17 points on 7-of-8 shooting and a team-high five rebounds.  Craddock added a season-high 17 points off the bench.  The Falcons shot 24-of-28 from the charity stripe as a team.
