King's Double-Double Lifts Falcons in Overtime

Jalen King led everyone in points and rebounds with a 25-10 night in Friday's 93-86 overtime win over Ecclesia to start the Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux Thanksgiving Classic
 
The Falcons got out to an early 5-0 lead on a jumper from King and three-pointer from Azariah Seay. Ecclesia answered with the next four before Seay and Keyon Craddock sank back-to-back triples for an 11-4 score at 15:24. UTPB's first double-digit advantage came after a Jalen Moody three-pointer made it 22-12. Their largest lead of the first half was 32-19 on a King layup with just under seven minutes before the break. The Royals cut it to 35-27 with 2:39 left, but the Falcons finished the first on a 9-4 run, capped by a Seay jumper for a 44-31 score.
 
Ecclesia trimmed it to six with a 9-2 run to open the second half before an 8-2 answer put UTPB up 54-42. The second half saw its share of runs for both sides with the Royals responding with a 9-0 streak to cut it to 54-51. Moody ended the run with a triple, but Ecclesia then went on an 11-0 run to take a 62-57 advantage with 7:08 left. Ecclesia went on to hold a 67-61 until four from King and two from DaJuan Jones capped a 7-0 answer and 68-67 advantage. The lead shifted four times with the Falcons making it 74-71 with just over a minute left. A three from the Royals flipped the lead to 77-76 with 30 second left. Fouled with eight seconds left, King made the first of two free throw tries for a 77-77 tie to force overtime.
 
Ecclesia scored the first four of the overtime period for an 81-77 lead with 3:50 left. Craddock finished a 5-0 answer with a triple with 2:28 remaining to lead by one. The Royals answered with a three of their own but quickly saw the lead change again with an 9-0 answer from UTPB. King first tied it with a with a layup before Jones took the lead on another. Craddock then sank another triple and Jones capped it with a pair of free throws for a 91-84 lead with 45 seconds left. The Royals got within five with a layup, but Jones made the final two from the line for a 93-86 final.
 
King's 25 came on 10-of-17 shooting and 5-of-9 from the free throw line. His 10 rebounds were split with five each offensively and defensively.
 
Seay was right behind King with 24 points and eight rebounds.  Jones added 17 points and 10 assists for his first double-double of the season.
 
Craddock scored 15 with four rebounds and two steals.
 
Moody added 10 points and six rebounds.
 
The Falcons (3-2) finish the Thanksgiving Classic on Saturday against Jarvis Christian at 4:00 p.m. from the Falcon Dome.
