Strambler has Monster Day in Final Road Contest of 2022

As her senior season is coming to a close, Aquincia Strambler has turned up her game for UT Permian Basin Volleyball.  On Saturday at Arkansas Fort Smith, Strambler had 16 kills, her seventh straight game in double digits, while adding 15 digs for her fifth double-double of the season.  Defensively Daylee Doggett had a huge day with a team leading 32 digs.

The Falcons shot of the gate to a 6-1 lead before the home team chipped away at the lead and eventually tied the score.  With the Falcons leading 16-15, the Lions went on a 6-1 run to take control and eventually the set.  The second set was similar to the first with the Falcons getting out to an extended lead early and the Lions battling back with a run of their own.  The sides traded points by a 3-0 run by the Lions created just enough separation to go up two sets to none.

The third set saw the Lions be the team out in front early before the Falcons went on a run.  A Stephanie Sanchez kill followed by a Maya Detwiler ace, and three Lion errors brought the Falcons right back into it.  Five Lion errors and a Strambler kill put the Falcons up 19-17 and in position to take the set.  The offense did the rest of the work with three Strambler kills and two more by Chadra Reed to take the set 25-19.  The teams traded points early in the fourth set but the Lions pulled away with an 8-0 to finish the match in four sets.

Mayce Barker added nine kills to the effort.  Jenna Gray had a team high 18 assists along with six digs.  Detwiler added 17 assists and eight digs.

The Falcons return home for the final week of the regular season.  They'll host UT Tyler on Friday to start the week with first serve slated for 7 PM.  Download the UTPB Athletics App to follow the team all season long.
