Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Horn’s Late Three Propels Falcons to Late Win

It was another close night in the Falcon Dome on Thursday as it took all 40 minutes for UT Permian Basin Men's Basketball to pull it out over Eastern New Mexico.  Jordan Horn was clutch, knocking down the eventual game-winning three with 20 seconds left.  Horn finished with 18 points, tying Miles Daniels for the team high.  Four Falcons finished in double figures in the 73-69 victory.

Daniels was cooking in the opening half.  He made his first three of the night and followed it with another jumper.  Lemmie Howard had a pair of baskets early as the Falcons took a slim lead.  The Greyhounds refused to go away, keeping pace with the Falcons but they could never supplant the Falcons in the lead.  Daniels gave the Falcons some cushion with another three, but the Greyhounds answered with a three of their own.

The Falcons extended the lead on yet another Daniels three and a bucket by DaJuan Jones.  On the next possession Jones came up with the steal and threw the alley oop to Zavon Godwin for the slam.  The Greyhounds trimmed the lead back down to three, but Daniels answered with another one from long range to extend what would be 41-33 halftime Falcon lead.

The Falcons kept the lead at eight before the Greyhounds got hot from the field.  A 10-0 run by them swung momentum and put the visitors in front 63-60.  Jordan Horn tied the ballgame with a up and under lay-up that just rolled over the rim while getting fouled.  His free throw tied things with just over five minutes to go.

Howard followed a made Jones free throw with a jumper to put the Falcons back up by three as part of a 6-0 run.  The Greyhounds retook the lead on a lay-up 69-68 with just 38 seconds on the clock.  The Falcons turned it over, but Howard drew a charge to get the ball back in the hands of the Falcons.

On their next possession, Horn calmly buried a corner three for the 71-69 lead.  Two Howard free throws later and the Falcons came away victorious 73-69.

Jones added 14 points and six assists.  Howard finished the night with 10 points and converted all four of his free throw attempts.
