Daniels and Horn Combine for 43 as Falcons Take No. 1 LCU Down to the Wire

1/29/2022 7:29:00 PM

Box Score UT Permian Basin Men's Basketball gave the No. 1 team in Division II everything they had on Saturday, taking undefeated Lubbock Christian all the way down to the wire.  Jordan Horn and Miles Daniels did their part, combining for 43 points and 14 rebounds.

After settling in, both offenses found an early rhythm.  Miles Daniels gave the Falcons a brief lead after a three-point play.  Keyon Craddock and Jordan Horn buried back-to-back threes to keep the Falcons up a score.  The Chaps answered with an 8-0 run before Horn ended it with another three.  Neither side conceded an inch, trading baskets.  Horn and Lemmie Howard closed the half strong for the Falcons, making back-to-back buckets to trim the Chap lead to two heading into the locker rooms.

Horn and Daniels kept the deficit at two after a pair of threes.  An 11-0 run pushed the Chaps to their biggest lead of the game.  Daniels responded with eight points of his own to trim the deficit to single digits.  A pair of threes from Kendal Frey and one from Craddock kept the Falcons within striking distance of the No. 1 team in the nation.

The Falcons made things interesting in the final minute of the game.  Daniels completed a four-point play and after a defensive stop, Horn connected on a three to make it a two-possession game.  Alvarez Powell had four points late as the Falcons pulled within five.  Despite the Falcons' best efforts, it was too late and they fell 80-73.

The Falcons controlled the glass, outrebounding the Chaps 36-26.  Frey added 10 points along with four rebounds and three assists.  Powell had four points and seven rebounds off the bench.
