Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Helgesen Nets First Career Double-Double in Lawton

After missing out on her first career double-double a month ago, Morgan Helgesen finished the job Thursday recording the first of her career with 15 points and 13 rebounds, also tying a career high in points.  Helgesen was clutch all evening for UT Permian Basin Women's Basketball in a thriller at Cameron.  The Falcons were led offensively by Alexus Wykoff who finished with 19 points

Ally Haman started the scoring for the game with a three-pointer at the 8:24 mark. Five straight Aggie points gave them the lead, but the Falcons were not done in the quarter. The Falcons went on an 11-0 run that included baskets by five different Falcons to give them a 14-5 lead.

In the second quarter, Kamari Portalis hit a three in the first minute of play, but it was Wykoff's five points in the quarter that led the Falcons as they went into the locker room up 35-34.

In the third quarter, the Falcons found their rhythm on offense once again. The first seven points of the half for the Falcons came from Helgesen. After Helgesen's streak the Falcons went on a 9-3 run to give them a six-point cushion at the end of the third period.

The fourth quarter saw the Falcons start a little sluggish as they allowed Cameron to come back and take the lead on a 10-2 run. The Falcons fought back as a late 7-2 run by them put them up by two on a clutch three by Helgesen.  After going back and forth down the stretch, Cameron hit a jumper with two seconds left for the 67-66 final.

Wykoff shot 66.7 percent from the field while Helgesen was 54.5 percent including 3-for-8 from beyond the arc. Munoz led the Falcons with eight assists and also scored in double figures with 14 points.

As a team the Falcons shot 47.2 percent from the field and collected 11 more rebounds than the Aggies leading that category 40-29.
