Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Jones, Horn Combine for 40 in Home LSC Opener

The stars of UT Permian Basin Men's Basketball had it going offensively Thursday night.  The duo of DaJuan Jones and Jordan Horn combined for 40 points against Dallas Baptist in the team's first Lone Star Conference home contest of the season.

Both teams started fast, and the Falcons led 14-13 five minutes into the game.  After the offensive assault by both sides, things slowed down.  After trading points, the Patriots grabbed momentum with a 9-0 run in a 2:30 span to grab a 12-point lead.  Jones cut into that deficit with eight of his 23 points, but the Patriots kept their hot shooting going.

The Falcons trailed by as many as 16 early in the second half but slowly climbed back in the game as the Patriots got into foul trouble early.  An 8-0 run by the Falcons featuring four made free throws brought the game back to single digits in the blink of an eye.  A three by Horn followed by five Jones points cut into the Patriot lead more.  After a Patriot made free throw, Horn scored four straight points to make it a 69-67 game.  The Falcons kept things close down the stretch but couldn't take the lead.  The Patriots made their free throws in the final moments, after struggling from the line much of the second half, for the 82-75 final.

Jones finished with 23 points on 7-of-10 shooting, knocked down a trio of threes, grabbed four rebounds, and had three assists.  Horn had 17 points and was perfect in six attempts from the free throw line.
