Scouting the Opponent

Colorado Mesa is coming off of a 5-4-1 spring where they made the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Playoffs. CMU was eliminated in the first round by No. 25 Colorado School of Mines in a 1-0 contest. CMU brings back their three leading goal scorers form the spring, including RMAC Freshman of the Year Lila Dere who scored seven of their 16 goals. Lexi Newton and Sydney Hathaway tied with two goals each as they were second on the team.

Series History

This will be the fourth meeting between Colorado Mesa and the Falcons and the first since 2019. The Falcons are 0-4 against CMU all time.

Your Falcons

The Falcons are coming off of the spring where they were under the guidance of new Head Coach Lynsey Winkler. Under Winkler's coaching, the Falcons scored one less goal in the shortened spring than they did in the entire 2019 season. Early on in the 2021 season, the Falcons have found the back of the net more in two scrimmages than they did in the spring. The Falcons look to turn heads on the offensive side of the ball in 2021.

The Falcons feature a young roster headlined by defending Lone Star Conference Freshman of the Year Hayley Sawyer.  The Midland native leads a roster of 20 underclassmen that look to reach the LSC playoffs for the second straight season.

Looking Ahead

The Falcons continue their Colorado road trip with a match against Fort Lewis on Sept. 5 at noon.  They will then face University of the Southwest in Hobbs, NM on Sept. 11 at 4 PM and then have their home opener on Sept. 16 at 5 PM against Southern Nazarene.
