9/25/2021 9:18:00 PM

Freshman Erin McGuire started her collegiate career with a bang by taking the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke events at the Sam Freas Invitational in Edmond, OK.

McGuire dominated posting a time of 1:09.66 in the 100-yard and 2:33.66 in the 200-yard events.  She wasn't the only Falcon to win Saturday, as fellow freshman Niklas Heelein took the 1000-yard freestyle by seven seconds.

The Falcons were all over the scoresheet, placing in the top three in multiple events.  Reese Delfeld set the tone early with a pair of third place finishes in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle.  Monica Lomeli placed third in the 500- and 100-yard freestyle events.  The women continued to show out with back-to-back second place finishes in the backstroke events.  Jazzy Tscherne did her damage in the 100-yard and Alice Eifert in the 200-yard.

Right behind McGuire in the 100-yard breaststroke was Kristina Vujosevic in third, just two seconds in back of first.  Delfeld continued her strong performance with a second-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly to close out the individual portion of the women's event.  The women finished strong in the relays.  Tscherne, Ava Reaume, Avery Joiner, and Delfeld combined for a second-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle.  In the 200-yard medley the Falcons combined to finish second and third in the 200-yard medley.  Tscherne, McGuire, Delfeld, and Joiner powered the second-place team while Reaume, Vojosevic, Kally Morris, and Taylor Dinsmore-Nassar were the third-place team.

Heelein started his afternoon with a second-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle before his first-place finish in the 1000-yard event.  Legend Jankowski finished his first collegiate race in second place, only half a second off first in the 200-yard backstroke.  In the 200-yard butterfly, Daryl Wells placed second before Matthew Newman capped off the individual events with a third-place finish in the 100-yard medley.
