Analise Lucio is used to putting up huge numbers in big games, but the senior may have had one of the best performances of her already historic career Friday night. Lucio came within just one kill of her first career triple-double along with 34 assists and 17 digs as UT Permian Basin Volleyball climbed out of a two-set hole to defeat Ouachita Baptist in five sets.
The Falcons struggled to find a groove offensively through the first two sets before the comeback. Facing a must win set, the Falcons caught fire in the third for a 9-3 lead. After a point by the Tigers, the Falcons scored 10 straight points to put the set away.
Netanya Allison carried the streak with four kills while Lucio added a pair.
The fourth set saw the Falcons fall behind 12-4. The Falcons chipped away at the deficit reeled themselves back in the game. The Tigers faced match point at 24-23 but the Falcons never blinked. They fought their way back in and took the set 27-25.
Heading into the fifth set the Falcons stormed out to an early 5-1 lead. The Falcons faced match point at 14-11 before the Tigers charged back with three points to tie the match. After a Tiger error,
Chandra Reed blasted the final kill for the comeback win.
Allison had a career night with 13 kills and 18 digs.
Stephanie Sanchez pitched in 10 kills. Five Falcons had double digit digs. Joining Allison and Lucio were
Daylee Doggett with 34,
Isela Murillo with 23, and
Erika Lozano with 11.
