The UT Permian Basin Baseball offense continued to flex their muscle on Saturday launching two home runs against Lubbock Christian. The home runs came off the bats of
Garret Thornton and
Nick Hernandez, who now have a combined 14 home runs on the season.
It took until the fourth for the Falcon offense to get going.
Jay DeSoto singled to start the inning through the left side. The very next pitch, Thornton jumped all over it for a two-run home run to left. Yesterday's hero
Devin Ferrari was hit by a pitch later in the inning and was followed by a walk to
Joe Allen IV. The Falcons added another run on a throwing error by the pitcher to cut into an early deficit 8-3.
The Falcons added another run in the sixth on Hernandez's home run to left. That's all the offense the Falcons could generate as they fell 16-4 in the second game of the series. DeSoto, Thornton, Hernandez, and Ferrari were the only Falcons with a hit on the afternoon and they all also came around to score.
Tomorrow will be the rubber match of this three-game set with first pitch scheduled for 1 PM. The Falcons will honor their seniors in a special Senior Day ceremony before the game. Download the UTPB Athletics App for the latest news on all your favorite Falcon teams.
