No stranger to big plays,
Kobe Robinson showed off that big play ability on Saturday from the get go. The junior returned the opening kick-off 93 yards for a score, becoming the longest play in UT Permian Basin Football history and first kick return for a touchdown. On the ensuing Falcon offensive possession, Robinson took a screen pass 85 yards to break the record for longest reception. It set the tone from the first whistle as the Falcons dominated from start to finish winning 54-20.
Robinson became the first Falcon in program history with three touchdowns in a game in the third quarter when
Clayton Roberts found him on a 19-yard strike. Robinson also set the record for most all-purpose yards in a single game with 256.
Roberts also continued his sensational start, throwing for four more touchdown passes. His four touchdowns tied a program record for the second consecutive week, and set a new program record over a two game stretch with eight. Roberts found
Baylon Ware twice in the third quarter for scores of 30 and 36 yards, along with the two passes to Robinson.
The defense and special teams set the tone early. After going up 13-0 early, the defense got on the board on the next drive by Lincoln.
Derrian Forge intercepted a pass and returned it for the score to push the lead to 20. The special teams did their part on the next series, with
Jaques Tyler blocking a punt and
Martin Brown IV finishing the job scooping it and scoring from 23 yards out.
The defense had four interceptions on the afternoon including a pair by
Trent Ward, matching a single game record set just last week by
D'Ondre Robinson. Brown also added an interception in the end zone in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.
Ware and Robinson combined for nine receptions, 213 yards, and four touchdowns. Ware led the team with five receptions while Robinson led the way with 117 receiving yards. Roberts threw for 275 yards and four touchdowns without an interception.
Ed Williams found the end zone in the fourth quarter for the first score of his collegiate career.
Miquon Mayes flew all over the field defensively, racking up 11 tackles.
John O'Kelley had nine tackles, including three for a loss, forced a fumble, and had two quarterback hurries.
Derrian Forge and
Dominique Varela got to the quarterback to split the lone sack of the afternoon. The defense combined for 12 tackles for a loss.
