The UT Permian Basin baseball team continued their winning ways on Friday with a double-header sweep of the University of the Southwest. The Falcons won 9-3 and 11-4 for their fifth straight victory.

In Game one the first run of the game for the Falcons came in the third on a wild pitch scoring Michael Clapperton. J Raul Lopez singled through the right-side scoring Colin Fabio and Nick Hernandez to go up 3-0. Hernandez showed his power in the fourth as he hit a home run to left scoring Garret Thornton and Jay DeSoto for a 6-0 lead. The Mustangs scored three in the sixth to bring the gap closer, but JoJo Allen answered that in a big way hitting a three-run homer to left once again scoring Thornton and DeSoto to win the game 9-3.

Trever Berg set the tone for the Falcons on the mound throwing a complete game going seven innings and giving up one earned run while striking out four Mustangs.
J Raul Lopez collected two hits in the game. Nick Hernandez and JoJo Allen each hit three run homers to drive in three runs each. Lopez collected two RBI to also record a multi RBI game. Jay DeSoto, Garret Thornton, and Nick Hernandez each scored twice for the Falcons.

In Game number two The Falcons got the bats going in a big way. Nick Hernandez singled up the middle to bring in Michael Clapperton to go up 1-0 in the first. The Falcons continued to get base runners on but could not cash in until the fourth on a Pemron Burrows sac fly to score JoJo Allen to go up 2-1. After the Mustangs tied it up in the sixth the Falcons opened it up in the bottom half. J Raul Lopez doubled to right scoring Allen. Garrett Tatum pinch ran for Lopez and scored on a Clapperton single up the middle. Hernandez doubled down the left field line scoring Garret Thornton and Clapperton for the Falcons to go up 6-2 after six innings of play.  Burrows drove in Devin Ferrari on a single through the left side to go up 7-4. In the eighth inning Oswaldo Godina gave the Falcons extra insurance with one swing of the bat on a no doubt grand slam to right field scoring Hayden Matthewson, Thornton, and Jay DeSoto for the 11-4 Falcon victory.
Michael Clapperton and Nick Hernandez each had three hits for the Falcons. Garret Thornton, JoJo Allen and Oswaldo Godina each had multi hit games as well. Godina led the Falcons in RBI with four. Nick Hernandez collected three RBI and Pemron Burrows had two RBI. Allen, Godina, and Clapperton each crossed the plate twice.
