For the second day in a row, UT Permian Basin Baseball put up a monster number to pick up another conference win, and a sweep over Lone Star Conference foe Cameron University.
The UTPB offense scored 12-runs to complete a three-game road sweep of Cameron Friday, piggybacking off of yesterday's 24-run doubleheader performance.
Colin Fabio led the offense with a day that included a three-run home run in the fourth.
Jake Rohde had a career-high nine strikeouts in his first start of the season. Falcon pitching combined for 16 strike outs to close out the series.
Neither offense had much going early besides a solo home run by the Aggies in the second inning. After having only two baserunners reach in the first three innings, the Falcon offense got to work in the fourth.
Garret Thornton started things off with a leadoff walk and
Nick Hernandez followed by reaching on an error. The Falcons got on the board as Fabio pulled a home run to right to put the Falcons up 3-1.
The floodgates opened in the fifth. With two on, Fabio singled to bring in Thornton and increased the lead to three.
Jay DeSoto followed with a walk to load the bases and forced a pitching change for the Aggies.
J Raul Lopez followed with a walk to bring home another run.
Cole Dickie doubled to left scoring two and was immediately followed by
Pemron Burrows with a two-run double to go up 9-1.
Joe Allen IV lifted a sac fly in the sixth to add to the lead.
The Aggies made things interesting with a five-run sixth inning, but the Falcon offense didn't let up. They added insurance runs in the seventh, on an error, and eighth, on an Allen RBI-single, for the 12-6 final.
Out of the bullpen, Jonathan Rice slammed the door striking out five over the final two innings.
Clay Thompson struck out a pair in one inning of work. The Falcon offense registered 11 hits and was patient at the plate working eight walks. Fabio, DeSoto, Dickie, and
Devin Ferrari all had two hits each. Fabio led the team with four RBI while Allen, Dickie, and Burrows had two RBI each. Coming off the bench, Ferrari scored three times.
