Jay DeSoto and UT Permian Basin Baseball struck early at No. 11 West Texas A&M, tagging them for five runs in the second inning.
Â
The Falcons started in the second inning on a
Jay DeSoto two-run home run. The rally continued as the Falcons got the benefit of a Buff error, scoring three more in the inning.Â
Michael Clapperton reached on the error, scoring
Pemron Burrows. He'd come around to score on a double off the bat of Colin Fabio, and Fabio scored on a Garrett Thornton single.
Â
The Buffs answered back with runs of their own, but the Falcons refused to go away. Down by two heading into the sixth the Falcons scored three more runs to take an 8-7 lead highlighted by a
Devin Ferrari double down the right field line, scoring
Oswaldo Godina and Colin Fabio. The lead wouldn't last long, as the Buffs retook the lead in their half of the inning and held on for the 14-8 final.
Â
Fabio,
Devin Ferrari, and DeSoto all had multi-hit games while Ferrari and DeSoto had multiple RBI. The Falcons hit four doubles, two by Ferrari and one each by Fabio and Burrows.
