Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Rivera Reaches Top Five in Career Rebounds as Falcons Clinch Spot in LSC Playoffs

Adam Rivera moved into the top-five in career rebounds in his final home game as a member of UT Permian Basin Men's Basketball.  The senior finished the day with 10 points and seven rebounds, giving him 401 for his career.  Trevion Lamar flirted with a triple-double against Midwestern State, finishing with 22 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists.

In a spitting image of the women's game, the senior drilled the first basket of the night from long range. Later in the half Jay Workman hit back-to-back baskets to cut into the Mustang lead. Midway through the half Rivera hit a pair of baskets in a row to bring the Falcons back within two, 19-17. Trevion Lamar scored four straight points to bring the Falcons into the locker room down 31-27.

The Falcons took a 38-37 lead early in the second half. Lamar and Workman each hit a pair of baskets to put them in front. The teams traded blows and the Falcons retook the lead with back-to-back threes 48-46 with 10:42 left in the game, but the Mustangs ended the game on a late surge to grab the 71-61 victory.

Jay Workman collected 13 points with Adam Rivera and Malik Brikat scoring 10 points each.

The Falcons will play No.2-seed West Texas in the first round of the LSC Championships next Tuesday. Game time will be determined. Download the UTPB Athletes App to keep up with all things Falcon Athletics.
