Alexus Quaadman recorded her fourth double-double of the season Thursday with 12 points and 15 rebounds against the second-best team in the Lone Star Conference.
Avalon Munoz and
Chaunta Thomas flirted with a double-double with both players scoring nine points with eight rebounds.
The Falcons traded baskets with the Mustangs for much of the first quarter. The Falcons held their first lead off a
Jada Berry early in the first. Quaadman went on a tear scoring six of eight Falcon points to give them the 16-13 lead heading into the second quarter.
Lauren Stallworth started the second quarter with a layup and a free throw to increase the Falcon lead. Midway through the second,
Rory Carter hit a three and a jump shot to keep the Falcons within two of the Mustangs. The Mustangs made a late run to head into the locker room on top.
After the break the Falcons retook the lead on a 13-4 run to start the third quarter. Thomas scored four points in the run as the Falcons spread the ball around. As the Falcons retook the lead, the Mustangs fought back and made a late run to send the Falcons into the fourth behind.
Munoz made a pair of free throws, collected a steal and made a fast break layup in the span of 20 seconds to keep the Falcons chances alive for the comeback, but it wasn't enough as the Falcon offense couldn't push through and fell 61-47.
Quaadman led the team in points and rebounds while recording the 12
th double-double of her already storied career. Munoz added in five assists and four steals to her already stellar night. Both teams combined for 105 rebounds, with the Falcons grabbing 52.
