Sitting on 599 career points heading into Thursday night, it didn't take much for
Adam Rivera to become the 15
th player in UT Permian Basin Men's Basketball's NCAA history to record 600 career points. Rivera finished with 14 points and seven rebounds putting him just three boards shy of moving into fifth place all-time heading into the final game of the regular season.
Trevion Lamar had a tremendous game, coming up just shy of his second double-double of the season. The Savannah, Georgia native finished the night with 20 points and nine rebounds while also leading the team with four assists.
Malik Brikat finished strong with 13 points and six boards while
Jay Workman had a strong night offensively scoring 10 points on 5-of-8 shooting.
The Falcon offense started slowly, and Midwestern State looked like they'd pull away early. The Falcons battled back. Rivera got things going with a three-pointer followed by a Lamar layup. Rivera found his stroke from deep knocking down a pair of threes to keep the Falcons around.
Tyler Jarolik got in on the action with a three at the buzzer, cutting what was a 22-point deficit down to 11. That was as close as the Falcons would get, as the Mustangs took back the momentum in the second half and pulled away 88-63.
The Falcons return home for their final tune-up before the Lone Star Conference playoffs. They'll host these same Mustangs on Saturday at 4 PM with Senior Day ceremonies scheduled to begin before the game. Download the UTPB Athletics App to follow your favorite Falcon teams all season long.
