Erika Lozano,
Analise Lucio, and
Aquincia Strambler showed up in a huge way Tuesday night at No. 3 Angelo State, with all three posting career nights. Lozano shattered her career-high with 27 digs and was one of four Falcons with double digit digs. Lucio tied a season-high with 35 assists to go along with 12 digs. Strambler came within two kills of a career-high and set a new season-high with 17 kills.
The Falcons came out firing against the No. 3 team in the nation and forced 11 errors from the Rambelle offense. The Falcons battled from behind early after a long Belle run put them up five points. A pair of kills by Strambler and three Belle errors thrust the Falcons back in front as part of a 6-0 run. Four more errors and a kill by
Stephanie Sanchez seized control of the set. The Belles battled back late, but it wasn't enough as the Falcons took the first set from the No. 3 Belles.
The Falcons kept things close in the second and third sets, except both sets the Belles went on an extended run to take the set. The Falcons battled out of an early hole in set four, but once again it was the Belles with a long run to take the match in four sets.
Strambler led all players on the night with 17 kills, a new season high. The junior had a stellar night finishing with a .361 kill percentage. Lucio led everyone with 35 assists and her 12 digs gave the junior her third double-double of the year. Lozano's 27 digs led the Falcons.
Daylee Doggett recorded her second straight double figure dig game with 15 while Isella Murillo had 10 digs. Sanchez had an all-around solid night with eight kills and eight assists.
