Already one of the best three-point shooters in the country,
Miles Daniels reinforced that on Saturday as he went off for 26 points at Western Washington. The senior was 8-for-13 from long range and has 14 threes over the last two games for UT Permian Basin.
Daniels was hot early with nine of the team's first 11 points. The Falcon offense struggled to make shots much of the first half but the defense, which forced 21 turnovers on the night, kept them within striking distance. It was the Vikings though who closed the half strong, building an 11-point lead heading into the locker room in a low scoring 38-27 first half.
The Falcons came out firing in the second half to cut into the deficit.
Max Warren made a putback layup before another Daniels three. The Vikings answered back but two more threes by Daniels followed by a pair of
Dajuan Jones free throws cut the lead to five. Daniels' fourth three-pointer of the second half answered a Viking bucket to make it a four-point ballgame. Three minutes later, Daniels cut it to three with another three. A bucket by
Lemmie Howard trimmed what was once a 12-point deficit down to just two, but the Vikings closed strong pulling away for the 70-64 final.
Jones recorded his second straight double-double with 10 points and 12 assists.
Jordan Horn finished the night with 14 points. Howard had 10 points along with seven rebounds. Neither bench could find an offensive rhythm as both sides combined for two points. Both teams also struggled to get to the free throw line as the Falcons went 6-of-7 from the charity stripe and the Vikings went 3-for-6.
