UT Permian Basin Volleyball finished out their week with a sweep of Cameron on Saturday. They defended the Falcon Dome not allowing a set victory during their two-match home stand.
The Falcons started out of the gate with a 5-1 first set lead. Both teams shared a couple of points then the Falcons caught fire again and broke the set open with a 6-1 run powered by two
Mayce Barker kills to make the match 14-5. The Falcons had another big run to close out the first set, led by
Taurie Magee with three kills to take it..
Both teams traded points throughout the second set as neither team could find a rhythm. With the score 18-16 in favor of the Falcons, they pulled away and took the set 25-17.
The third set was all Falcons as they soared to a 10-1 lead.
Analise Lucio recorded back-to-back service aces to start the run. The Falcons managed an 8-1 run in the middle of the set to go up 19-4 as
Devin Alcoser got two service aces of her own. The Falcons finished out the third set and match with a 25-11 victory in three sets.
The win pushes the Falcons to 12-5 overall and 7-2 in Lone Star Conference play as they have won their last six out of seven matches. A total of eight Falcons combined to record 41 kills as they hit .340 overall, their highest of the season, in the match for the victory.
Aquincia Strambler,
Isela Murillo, and Barker led the match with eight kills each.
Analise Lucio recorded 15 assists and also powered the team with four service aces.
Chandra Reed dominated the net with five blocks and
Daylee Doggett carried the team with 16 digs.
