The Falcon bats awoke Sunday, scoring 10 runs on the strength of three home runs and five total extra base hits. Jay Desoto and
Pemron Burrows hit their firsts of the season while
Nick Hernandez blasted his second of the season. As a team the Falcons had 11 hits on the afternoon.
The Falcons (1-5) fell behind 6-0 early but battled back with their bats. Things got going in the third inning when the Falcons scored a pair.
Michael Clapperton got things going with a one-out single. Burrows followed with a single of his own and a
Torren Brozovich walk loaded the bases.
Alex Wixson singled to center to dive in two and cut into the deficit. The Falcon offense went back to work in the fourth. Clapperton started the rally with a triple. Burrows worked a walk and stole second, allowing Clapperton to steal home. Desoto followed with his first home run of the season to left field to make it a one-run game.
The Falcons took the lead in the sixth. Burrows blasted a one-out home run to left. Desoto walked and Wixson singled to center. Hernandez then blasted a three-run homer to center giving the Falcons a 9-7 lead. The Texans (3-3) scored in the bottom half of the sixth making it 9-8. Desoto singled in
Garrett Thornton for an insurance run in the seventh for the 10th run of the ballgame. The Falcons couldn't hold the lead as the Texans scored four in the seventh to lead 12-10. The Falcons loaded the bases in the ninth on a walk, error and hit by pitch, but a strike out ended the inning.
Burrows, Desoto, Wixson and Clapperton all had multi-hit games. Desoto and Hernandez each had three RBI a piece.
The Falcons return home next week as they'll take on St. Edward's at Roden Field starting Friday.
