Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Hemmeline Scores 27 as Falcons Tie Program Record for LSC Wins

Holly Hemmeline came within one point of her career-high, scoring 27 points in a wire to wire 80-68 victory over Oklahoma Christian.  The win was the sixth Lone Star Conference win, tying the program record for LSC wins.  Alexus Quaadman had a monster game, recording her fifth double-double of the year with 12 points and 12 rebounds to go along with four blocks and four steals.

Kayla Galindo started the scoring with a three in the first 21 seconds of the quarter. The Falcons (9-13, 6-10) spread the lead on a 9-2 run with three pointers made by Jordan Rogers, Hemmeline, and Galindo to push them to a 14-7 lead. The Falcon defense only allowed four Eagle (6-13, 6-9) points in the second quarter as the Falcons took a 15-0 run into halftime with Galindo scoring six of them.  The Falcons went into the locker room in command up 37-18.

The Eagles came out of the half on an 8-2 run but any hopes of a comeback were shattered as the Falcons collected five straight points to give them an 18-point cushion and head into the fourth quarter up 59-45. The Falcons led by as many as 23 as they went on a 9-0 run to start the fourth. Quaadman scored four of those points on two lay-ups. The Eagles tried to claw their way back into the game but free throws down the stretch kept the game out of reach.

Holly Hemmeline tallied her 27 points on 10-of-19 shooting and knocked down six threes.  Kayla Galindo scored a season-high 18 points and was 7-of-8 from the free throw line.

Next up for the Falcons will be UA Fort Smith on Saturday at 2 PM in the Falcon Dome.
