Adam Rivera scored 11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to collect a double-double against Western New Mexico University.
Pat Dembley led the Falcons in scoring with 19 and
Fermandez Jones added 13 points for the Falcons in the effort.
The Falcons and Mustangs traded three pointers to start the game. The Falcons recorded a 7-2 run with Dembley scoring five of those seven points to tie the game 10-10 with 15:00 to go in the first half. The Falcons once again tied the game back up 17-17 on a 7-2 run this time though with 11:47 to play in the half. The teams the rest of the half, traded baskets as not one team could get much of a run as the Mustangs were up at the half 42-31.
After a three-point basket by the Mustangs out of the half the Falcons netted four layups by four different players to shrink the gap to 45-39 with 18:09 to go in regulation. Down by 14 half way through the second half the Falcons ignited a 15-2 run led by
Donoven Carlisle and Dembley scoring four points each to bring the game back within one as the Falcons still trailed 68-67. The
Mustangs went back on a 6-1 run to spread the gap and win the game 81-75.
Next up for the Falcons will be a home matchup in the Falcon Dome against Lubbock Christian University at 7:30 PM on Feb. 27th.
