2/27/2020 10:25:00 PM

Box Score UT Permian Basin Men's Basketball made an end of the year statement, with six players in double figures in a crucial 106-95 win over Lubbock Christian.  Pat Dembley led the way with a monster game, scoring 25 points, dishing out eight assists and grabbing six steals.  With the win the Falcons have moved into ninth place in the Lone Star Conference standings.

The pace was intense from the get-go, with both teams trading baskets back and forth out of the gates.  The Falcons (16-14, 9-12) were hot early from the outside knocking down 4-of-5 in the opening stages of the game.  The Chaps (17-9, 14-7) went blow to blow with the Falcons, keeping pace on the scoreboard with hot shooting of their own.  But it was the Falcons hot outside shooting that allowed them to pull away.  Trailing by five, the Falcons went through a stretch of six of seven baskets coming from three-point range as a part of a 12-0 to lead a double digit lead.  The Chaps tried to answer, but the Falcons kept responding with a barrage of baskets and went into the locker room ahead 56-43.

A 6-0 run early in the second half put the Chaps back in the game.  They'd cut the Falcon lead to just five, but a 5-0 run by Adam Rivera pushed the lead back to double digits.  They pushed it further with a 6-0 run to put the game out of reach for good.  The Chaps cut the lead down to nine in the closing minutes, but free throws kept the Falcons ahead for the notch in the win column.

Elvin Rodriguez and Miles Washington each had 19 points, while Washington grabbed seven rebounds.  Rivera finished with 17, hitting three from long range.  Malik Anderson finished with 12 points, seven rebounds and four assists.  Issac Hernandez cracked double figures with 10 points as well.  The Falcons shot 14-of-27 from beyond the three-point line.

The Falcons wrap-up the regular season Saturday with Senior Day against Angelo State with Senior Day Ceremonies set to take place pregame with tip-off slated around 4.
