Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Horn Stays Red Hot as Falcons Open Season With Fifth Straight Win

Jordan Horn continued to fill the score sheet, scoring 26 points in a back and forth 85-80 victory over Cameron.  The win is the team's fifth in a row, the second longest streak to start a season in program history.  It is the first time the Falcons head into Christmas Break undefeated.

Much like yesterday's thriller, the first half was a back and forth affair.  Neither team was able to swing momentum with the lead not getting higher than five.  The final 6:45 of the first half was back and forth game, with neither team leading by more than two and the teams went into the locker rooms tied at 42.

Jay Workman opened the second half with a three to put the Falcons out in front.  The team slowly gained momentum and started to pull away.  A three-point play by Trevion Lamar and a bucket by Horn pushed the lead to eight.  A Wesley Hayes three after a Cameron (0-4) basket, put the Falcons ahead by nine, the largest lead to that part.  Another Lamar layup pushed the lead to 10 with 11:26 to play.  The Aggies wouldn't go away, making it a one-point game with a 13-4 run with under five minutes to play.  The Aggies took the lead with 1:07 to play, but the Falcons responded.  Lamar completed a three-point play to retake the lead.  The Aggies missed the first end of a one-and-one with 10 seconds to play, and Horn pulled down the rebound.  He finished off the Aggies with pair of free throws, and Lamar hit a pair in the cloing seconds for the 85-80 final.

Horn scored at least 26 points for the third straight contest and added seven rebounds and five assists.  Lamar finished with 22 points and seven rebounds.  Workman was once again efficient with 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting.  The Falcons held the Aggies to 18.2 percent shooting from long range.

The Falcons are off for two weeks for the holidays and will resume in 2021.  They will be back in action on January 2 against Arkansas Fort Smith for a weekend series.
