Carter Keeps Scoring Touch Against West Texas A&M

Rory Carter continued her hot scoring streak Thursday night, scoring 15 points against RV West Texas A&M.  The freshman now has scored in double figures in four of the last five contests and has eight such games on the season.  It wasn't enough as the Falcons (6-8, 3-5) fell 75-46, playing with just eight players.

The Lady Buffs (13-3, 6-1) used their size to gain an early advantage but a three by Carter kept the Falcons close.  The Lady Buffs went on a 12-1 run to push the lead to double figures but Jada Berry's bank shot three kept it within double figures.  That three sparked a rally to close the quarter as Jordan Rogers knocked down back to back shots including a three and Carter hit a lay-up at the buzzer to go into the second quarter down 20-16.  That was as close as things would be as the Lady Buffs opened the second frame with a 13-0 run before Alexus Quaadman sunk a pair of free throws.

The Falcons opened the second half trying to cut into their deficit and on the strength of their defense held the Lady Buffs to just 10 points in the quarter.  The Falcons ended the quarter scoring the last six points cutting the deficit to 13.  Once again the Lady Buffs opened the quarter strong to put the game away before Holly Hemmeline hit the team's first basket in the fourth quarter at the 5:16 mark.

Quaadman was the only other Falcon in double figures with 10 on 4-of-7 shooting while also grabbing five rebounds.  Once again the Falcons won the turnover battle, forcing 22 while only committing 14.

The Falcons are back in action Saturday at 2 when they welcome Eastern New Mexico into Odessa.
