Pat Dembley continues to score at a blazing pace for UT Permian Basin Men's Basketball, scoring 23 points, his 12
th game scoring at least 20 points. The senior is now averaging 23.2 points per game in Lone Star Conference play and leads the conference in free throws made with 69. Dembley finished the night shooting 7-of-13 and went 6-for-10 from long range as the Falcons (11-7, 4-6) fell to Tarleton 80-58.
Dembley started the night knocking down a three to follow a
Donoven Carlisle jumper to get the Falcons out in front early. The lead was short-lived as a 15-0 Texan (9-7, 5-5) run put them ahead. Five points from Dembley and a three by
Malik Anderson cut the deficit to nine but the Texans continued to knock down shots. The Falcons shot well from long range with Dembley hitting again from deep in between a pair of
Fermandez Jones threes to keep things close before the Texans closed the half on a run.
The Falcons looked to make a run out of the half, with
Isaac Hernandez and Dembley each making a pair of threes and cutting a 23-point deficit down to 11. That momentum ended quickly with a 10-0 Texan run putting the game out of reach as the offenses traded baskets for the rest of the game.
Jones continued his hot hand scoring 11 points off the bench. The freshman now has scored in double figures in three straight games after previously doing so just once.
The Falcons are back in action on Saturday as they take on No. 16 DBU.
