Falcon Offense Explodes in Dominant Win Over Tarleton

From start to finish it was all Falcons on St. Patrick's Day as the team blasted Tarleton State for 16 runs on 10 hits to split their final series before Lone Star Conference play.  Ten Falcons (9-12) had an RBI in their ninth win of the season, tying last year's total for the season.

The Texans (10-16) looked to repeat yesterday and jump on the Falcons in the first inning but instead stranded runners on the corners.  In their half of the inning the Falcons would rally with two outs.  After Pemron Burrows and Peyton Kooman walked, Tony Oslovar drove in Burrows with a two-out single.  After a Tyler Vlasek walk loaded the bases, Dalton Castillo singled on the first pitch he saw for a two-run single.  Andres Romero would follow with an RBI-single of his own to go up 4-0 after the first inning.  After a quiet second inning for both teams, the Texans would get on the board in the third.  Four straight walks and a hit batter allowed two runs to come in and cut the Falcon lead in half.  With bases loaded and one out, Paul McRae would get a pop-out and a strike out to escape trouble with the lead.

The bottom of the third was all Falcons as they exploded for seven runs on three pitchers to put the game out of reach.  Oslovar opened with a single before Vlasek tripled into the right field corner for a run.  They would load the bases and Andrew Donovan drove in a run with a single to go up 6-2.  Tylor Frailey would walk in another run before a wild pitch brought in another run.  A sacrifice fly by Burrows would make it 9-2 with a runner still on third.  Skyler Palermo stayed red-hot with a double to left center for another run, his fifth double of the weekend.  He would later score on a throwing error and the rout was on as the Falcons lead 11-2 after three innings.

The Falcons looked like they'd strand runners on second and third in the fourth inning, but a fielding error allowed Castillo to score a run.  Three straight walks brought in two more to make it 14-3 Falcons.  The Falcons would score another pair in the fifth inning on a single by Gabriel Melendez and a walk by CJ Flores.  The Texans would add a run in the seventh on a wild pitch but it was too late as the Falcons won 16-3.

Donovan led the way offensively going 3-3 with an RBI and scoring twice.  Oslovar went 2-3 with two RBI, two runs and also walked twice to reach base four times.  Palermo, Castillo and Burrows each had a pair of RBI while six Falcons scored twice on the afternoon.  Eight members of the starting lineup had an RBI in the rout.  McRae earned the win throwing 2.2 innings of relief, striking out five and allowed just three base runners.

The Falcons are on the road next week as they start Lone Star Conference play with a showdown with RV Angelo State.
