Khali Pippins-Tryon continued her hot scoring dropping 31 points in UT Permian Basin's 63-52 loss to MSU Texas, putting her over 300 points for the second straight season.
Both teams traded points back and forth for much of the opening quarter. Pippins-Tryon was hot from the start scoring nine points while
Sarah Bersang chipped in six for the Falcons (4-20). The Falcons still trailed the Mustangs (8-14) 23-15 as the rest of the offense couldn't get going. The Mustangs tried to pull away in the second quarter pushing the lead to 12 but Pippins-Tryon would answer with a 7-0 run of her own. She would knock down another three before
Kristian James became the first player besides Pippins-Tryon to score in the second quarter. Pippins-Tryon ended the first half with 19 points on 8-9 shooting hitting her first eight shots.
The Falcon offense would start to wake up and balance out but every time they would make a run the Mustangs would answer. Pippins-Tryon would open the fourth with a lay-up and make it a three point game. The Mustangs would answer with a four point swing before slowly pulling away for the 63-52 final.
Pippins-Tryon finished with a new season-high of 31 points on 14-22 shooting along with seven rebounds. She now has 661 career points as a Falcon. Bersang added in eight points while
