UT Permian Basin men's and women's tennis opened a busy four game in four days stretch for each team Thursday afternoon as the Falcons traveled to the Metroplex for a pair of matches against UT Tyler.
UTPB men's tennis defeated UT Tyler 4-3 on the afternoon. The Falcon men picked up a doubles point by earning all three doubles victories.
Felipe Dias and
Daniel Colmenares won 6-3 at #1 doubles.
Raul Stevens and
Jordan Minjoot combined at #2 doubles for a 6-4 win, and
Marcos Silva and
Juan Diego Ruiz won 6-1 at #3 doubles.
The Falcons also won three singles matches.
Raul Stevens defeated Gabriel Hidalgo 6-4, 6-4 at #2 singles.
Juan Diego Ruiz beat Andres Gonzalez 6-2, 6-3 for a #4 singles win, and Felipe Diaz won 6-1, 6-1 at #5 singles.
The UTPB women dropped the doubles point, winning one of three doubles matches.
Maria Briones and
Melissa Ariza Gonzalez won at #2 doubles 6-4.
The Falcon women earned a pair of singles victories on the day. Ariza Gonzalez beat Ana Claire Gerletti 6-4, 6-2 at #2 singles.
Jessica Madamba took a 6-4, 6-0 win at #5 singles for the Falcons.
Both teams are back in action Friday, facing Dallas Baptist at 1 p.m.
