Ntor-Ue Scores Career-High 21 as Falcons Close Out 2019

Lemia Ntor-Ue closed out the 2019 calendar with arguably her best game as a Falcon, scoring a career-high 21 points along with six rebounds.  Holly Hemmeline had another strong game adding 16 points to go with five rebounds, four assists, and four steals while Rory Carter added 14 points off the bench.  It wasn't enough as the Falcons fell to Texas A&M International 80-70.

The Falcons (6-5, 3-2) fell behind early but took the lead after a 10-0 run capped by back to back threes by Jada Berry and Carter.  The Dustdevils (7-4, 4-1) fought back and the Falcons trailed by one heading into the second quarter.  Out of the gates of the second quarter, the Dustdevils went on a run to push their lead to 14, but the Falcons answered back.  Yazmin Batch knocked down a three and was followed by a pair of Hemmeline threes to close the gap to five, which would be their deficit heading into halftime.

In the second half the Falcons continued to battle.  They retook the lead after a three by Carter and another three by Hemmeline put them up two.  A pair of Ntor-Ue free throws pushed the lead to four, but that was as big as the lead would get.  A 6-0 run to close the quarter put the Dustdevils up two heading into the fourth quarter where they slowly pulled away.

The Falcons shot well from deep going 10-for-20 from three-point range and finished 24-for-48 from the field for the game.

The Falcons are off next week and resume Lone Star Conference play in the new year at Angelo State on January 2.
