Washington Perfect in Falcons 10th Straight Win

UT Permian Basin forward Miles Washington was perfect from the field Saturday afternoon as the Falcons rode a balanced offense to an 89-77 win over Cameron. The victory was the team's 10th straight as they improve to 10-2 on the season and 3-0 in Lone Star Conference play.

Washington was 9-9 shooting on the day for 19 points to lead all Falcons, and also had a team-best nine rebounds inside for UTPB.

The Falcons couldn't miss in the first half, hitting 62 percent of their shots from the field (18-29) while holding Cameron to just 9-30 shooting, including only 2-12 from 3-point range. UTPB led by as many as 20 points three different times in the first half, including a 47-27 halftime advantage.

Cameron used a rebound advantage in the second half, grabbing 31 rebounds to just 17 by the Falcons and 12 offensive boards to closing the gap late in the game. The Aggies were able to cut a 26-point UTPB lead down to 12 points late in the game, but a seven point rally from the Falcons, all at the free throw line, killed any chances Cameron had at making a comeback.

All seven Falcons that scored on the afternoon got in on the action, as five players scored in double figures and all seven had at least eight points. Carson Newsome added 18 points and six rebounds with four assists, while Donoven Carlisle had 13 points and four rebounds. Pat Dembley had 10 points with five assists and five steals. Isaac Hernandez came out on fire in his first game of the year, hitting a pair of threes and four of his five field goal attempts for 12 points in 20 minutes.

The Falcons have a quick turnaround, hitting the road Sunday for an exhibition game at Texas San Antonio. Tip off is schedule for 3 p.m.
