Netanya Allison broke out for UT Permian Basin Volleyball Friday night, stepping in to record a season-high 11 kills as UTPB defeated Midwestern State 25-21, 25-18, 27-25 in Wichita Falls, Texas.
The win improved the Falcons to 13-3 on the season and 5-2 in Lone Star Conference play.
"The team fought hard tonight to grind out a road win,: said Head Volleyball Coach
Tim Loesch. "
Isela Murillo,
Erika Lozano and our other receivers gave
Analise Lucio good passes all night. She distributed the sets to our hot hitters and provided offense of her own.
Netanya Allison and Cassidy Dolan led the offense in their first starts as Falcons."
Allison scored her 11 kills while leading the Falcons with a .421 hitting percentage, recording just three errors on 19 attacks.
The Falcons needed extra points to close out the win. Trailing 23-21 late in the third set, the Falcons survived two set points on kills by
Grace Talbert and
Analise Lucio to pull even at 24-24. An attack error gave the Mustangs their third chance at winning the set, but UTPB pulled even at 25-25 on a service error. A Mutang attack error gave the Falcons their first chance at match point, and
Cassidy Dolin won the match with a kill.
Murillo added seven kills on the night, while Lucio had six kills while hitting .364 with a match-best 33 assists at setter.
Erika Lozano had a match-best 17 digs for UTPB.
The Falcons are back in action Saturday afternoon, traveling to Denton to take on Texas Woman's.
