Ledoux, Falcons Snap Skid with Win at Western New Mexico

Jacob Ledoux set a new team-high scoring mark for 2018-19 at UT Permian Basin snapped a four-game losing streak Thursday night when the Falcons defeated Western New Mexico 105-99 in Silver City, N.M.

Ledoux scored an efficient 36 points, hitting 15-21 of his shots from the field to help carry the Falcon offense.

"We needed tonight in the worst way," said UTPB head coach Josh Newman. I was proud of our guys for showing toughness on the road to pull out a much-needed win. We didn't even realize Jacob had 36 until we looked at the box score. He got some really easy transition baskets and also took good quality shots. He's worked really hard trying to score within the offense the last couple of weeks so I'm glad to see that pay off."

Ledoux led the Falcons in the first half, scoring 20 points in the opening 20 minutes. Demarco Jackson also had a strong first, adding nine points with six rebounds as UTPB raced out to a 48-37 lead at the break.

UT Permian Basin led by as many as 17 points three different times in the second half, and the large lead came in handy as Western New Mexico got within single digits with 3:31 remaining.

UTPB hit 34 free throws in the game, including 16 in the final three minutes in locking up the six-point victory.

Isaiah Hammons added 18 points, hitting 16-23 attempts from the free throw line in the game, while also adding a team-best five assists. Jackson ended the night with 16 points and eight rebounds, hitting 7-12 from the field. Amanze Njoku-Ibe had a team-high nine rebounds.

The Falcons are off the remainder of the weekend, and return to action next Thursday when they stay on the road for a game at Eastern New Mexico in Portales, N.M.
